Happy February!  As I look at the calendar, turning the page from January to February, I see the beginning of the end for Winter, and came across the following quote:

"From December to March, there are for many of us three gardens:
the garden outdoors, the garden of pots and bowls in the house,
and the garden of the mind's eye."  -
Katherine S. White

I am especially intrigued by the last line, “…the garden of the mind’s eye.”  This speaks not only to the literal view of a garden, but also to the power of our memories, imaginations and maybe even our own biased perceptions.  Are you tending the garden of your mind’s eye, nurturing it with continuous education?  Are you working each day to build a garden of experience that you can be proud to look back on? When you look back at your interactions with co-workers, how positive is that recollection?  How are you impacting the gardens of the mind’s eye of your family, friends and co-workers?  We all want to be regarded positively in our personal and professional relationships; in many cases, using simple courtesy and good etiquette are at the core of creating those positive exchanges.

This month we’ll feature a program by Michele Powell, Owner and operator of Professional Manner, LLC., a professional development consulting firm specializing in business and social etiquette training with emphasis on corporate civility/workplace relations.  Featured in television and radio and published in several newspapers and magazines across the country, Ms. Powell will be discussing the basics of business etiquette, helping you enhance others’ perception of you, boost your professional relationships, and help you to navigate luncheons, parties and other events.  This topic will be relevant for everyone and will encourage a healthy garden of your mind’s eye.
