Minutes of Board Meeting

May 8, 2008

             The board meet at the ASI building in Research Park. The following persons were present: Georgia Wertman (president), Colleen Cain (president-elect), Amy Heard (past president) John Hightower (treasurer), Lucy Gardner (programs chair), Mike Jones (communications chair), and Mike Crossley (membership chair).

             John agreed to act as secretary for the meeting.

             The minutes from the April 10 meeting were reviewed.

             John presented the financial report for the year to date. It was accepted by consensus.

             Mike C. reported that local-only membership stood at 47 and local-national memberships stood at 26, for a total chapter membership of 73. Mike indicated he would be sending out the membership directory soon.

             The board discussed the upcoming showcase. Colleen has agreed to serve as event chair. Lucy indicated that Adele Lynn was booked for the event and her fee was $1,600 plus air fare. The following prices were agreed upon:

             Group discounts are available for five or more people. If five or more people are registered from the same group, the price will be $10 less for each person. For example, if an ASTD member from Redstone Federal Credit Union were to bring at least four guests, the price would be $65 each for a total of $325 (5 × $65).

             Deadline for early registration was set at August 1. The deadline for registration was set for August 22, the Friday before the event on Tuesday, August 26.

             The location was set as the Holiday Inn Research Park (near Madison Square Mall). The board agreed to pay $500 for a deposit on the hotel facility.
