North Alabama Chapter of ASTD
Board Meeting Minutes: October 14, 2005
Lanier, Ford, Shaver, & Payne, 200 Westside Square, Suite 600, Huntsville, AL 35801
Lori King-Taylor convened the meeting.
Attendees: Lori-King Taylor, Nancy Hodges, Gloria Stover, John Hightower, Rhonda Williams. Absent: Debi Trumbull, Cindy Dodd, and Amy Heard
Secretary’s Report: not read.
Treasurer’s Report:
John Hightower submitted the cash flow report for approval
Total Income: $5,060.25
Total Expenses: $4,557.88
Current Checkbook Balance: $3,860.39
The budget was reviewed and approved as submitted.
Committee Reports:
Membership: Cindy not present. It was noted that current mailing list was sent to board members.
Communications: Newsletter to go out Monday, October 17th.
Programs: November is slated for the Space and Rocket Center. The Program will consist of lunch, overview of corporate programs, and live simulation demos.
Old Business: Train-the Trainer conference
The board discussed multiple advertising venues such as making calls, structured email with overview at the top and details at the bottom.
At this date, only 2 people have reservations for the conference.
The group brainstormed a strategy for the e-learning segment. Nancy has yet to talk with the presenter and is not sure about the presentation. John volunteered to facilitate a discussion around the topic of e-learning. Nancy is to compile a bibliography of resources and John is to purchase the ASTD book on e-learning.
UPDATE: Nancy talked to vendor and he will present on e-learning. Nancy will run off his presentation slides for the group. John has purchased four ASTD e-learning books to augment the presentation and use as door prizes.
The group decided that the presenter guidelines be sent out to all presenters. Nancy is to send a copy to each presenter via the mail. The presenters are Ted Gulas, John Bentley, Wendy Cantrell, and Gary Huckabee.

The board will meet at the Huntsville Center for Technology the 2nd Thursday in November for lunch and tour. The board will consider having the December ASTD Program at the center.
