Board Meeting Minutes: June 9, 2005

Attendees: Lori King-Taylor, Gloria Stover, John Hightower, Rhonda Williams, Nancy Hodges
The meeting was called to order by Gloria Stover, Vice-President/President Elect, at 11:45 a.m.
Minutes from the May’s meeting were distributed via email prior to the meeting and approved.
John submitted the Cash Flow Report for 01/01/05 through 06/01/05.
Total Income $3,773.25
Expenses $3.432.37
Net Income $ 340.88
John noted that the Showcase income was partially in 2004 and 2005. The website expenses are for transferring files and a 12-month contract with the new provider. The financials will be posted on our website.
John presented the 2005 Showcase Financial Statement as of May 22, 2005:
Total Income* $3,588.85
Expenses $2,074.33
Net Income $1,514.52
* We still have one exhibitor who has not paid their bill.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Membership –Cindy Dodd was not able to attend the meeting. John reported that he received payment for four new members.
Communications – Rhonda Williams reported the postcard meeting reminders were mailed yesterday. The website is up to date. The next newsletter will go out the first of July. Rhonda requested program info and any other newsletter material within two weeks.
Programs – Nancy Hodges reported our June meeting will be held at Corporate University. She will check with Clementine’s and McAllister’s for lunch catering. Programs confirmed for the remainder of the year are:
July – ROI, Richard Schrumburger, Four Points Sheraton
August – Mental Health, Debi Trumbull, Mental Health Center
September – Event Planning, Beverly Youngken, Four Points Sheraton
October – Train-the-Trainer Workshop, Four Points Sherator
November – Corporate Space Camp Tour, U.S. Space & Rocket Center
December – Holiday Party, Four Points Sheraton
Suggestions were made to have the Showcase in February of 2006 and to have a program on training to avoid litigation in January 2006.
OLD BUSINESS
Fall Program –
The fall program will be a Train-the-Trainer workshop on October 25, 2005, from 8:30 – 3:30. A tentative schedule was agreed on:

10:00 – 10:15 Break
10:15 – 11:15 Second Session on Basic Presentation Skills
11:15 – 11:30 Break
11:30 – 1:00 Lunch with Keynote Speaker
1:00 - 1:15 p.m. Break
1:15 – 2:15 First Session on Advanced Training
2:15 – 2:30 Break
2:30 – 3:30 Second Session on Advanced Training
The cost will be as follows:
Members Non-Members
Half day including lunch $25.00 $30.00
Full day including lunch $40.00 $45.00
Lunch only $12.00 $15.00
We will survey membership for topics and speakers. Gloria Stover will prepare a survey, review with board members, and give to Rhonda Williams to include in next newsletter. We will offer a free gift to all who reply to the survey.
Gloria Stover will contact Sharon Lovoy of Lovoy’s Teamworks to check her availability as keynote speaker for the workshop.
Membership Drive -
Lori King-Tayler asked for suggestions on a membership drive to be held before October of this year. After discussion, board members agreed that we will have the membership drive at the September meeting. For every guest a member brings, the member’s name will be entered in a drawing for a $50 Barnes & Noble gift card.
John Hightower suggested we include the membership application form on our website in PDF format. All agreed, and John will handle this with our webmaster.
NEW BUSINESS
John Hightower volunteered to represent ASTDNA with HATS.
The next board meeting will be held on July 14, 2005, at 11:30 a.m., at Lanier Ford Shaver & Payne.
