Leadership
- Provide chapter leaders and members with necessary guidance to fulfill their roles.
- Review existing job descriptions for each board member.
- Review chapter constitution & bylaws; post on website.
- Meet all of the ASTD Chapter Operating Requirements (CORE).
- Appoint a Nominating Committee by August 2006 to recruit 2007 officers.
Membership
- Retain and recruit new members.
- Schedule a quarterly or semi-annual new-member meeting.
- Provide membership and meeting information to other community organizations (such
as NASHRM, STC).
- Meet and greet guest and members at chapter events.
- Develop a recognition program.
- Distribute membership directory to chapter members.
- Maintain membership database and mailing list with current information.
Programs
- Continue to provide high-quality monthly programs and professional development
programs.
- Host a Training showcase in April.
- Host a workshop in the fall.
- Have a best-practices roundtable discussion.
- Increase attendance at chapter events.
- Schedule an evening program at least once this year.
- Coordinate events with other organizations (such as NASHRM, STC, WEDC, BNI,
EWI).
Communication
- Communicate chapter events and membership benefits with chapter members and other
interested persons through newsletter, meeting announcements, email, and website.
- Publish quarterly newsletter, continuing to add pertinent articles and other information of
interest to training professionals and chapter members.
- Profiles of board members.
- Articles about chapter initiatives with invitation to members to volunteer.
- Recommended books list.
- President's message.
- Continually improve chapter website.
- Add links to other organizations and add our link on their website.
- Post chapter constitution and bylaws.
- Ensure mailing and e-mail lists are current.
Public Relations
- Provide ASTD business cards for board members with CHIP#.
- Publish meeting announcements in The Huntsville Times.
Member Relations
- Survey members for feedback on membership benefits.
- Solicit feedback at each meeting with a program survey.
Finance
- Advise members of ASTD's Chapter Incentive Program (CHIP), a revenue sharing program
using our CHIP#CH9022.
- Conduct a 2005 audit of financial records.
- Complete a risk-management assessment.
