North Alabama Chapter of the
American Society for Training and Development (ASTD), Inc.

May meeting:   May 27, 2008, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Location:  Redstone Federal Credit Union in Research Park, 220 Wynn Drive

Subject:   How To Change Subject-Matter Experts into Trainers

Presenter:   Lori King-Taylor and Corolyn Lord

About the Presenters:   Lori and Carolyn are both former presidents of our local chapter. They now work for Omni-Team, an outplacement firm. Between them, they have over 40 years of experience in training and development.

About the Program:   You hire a bright young engineer, accountant, or programmer. He quickly learns the ropes, and delivers outstanding work. Within a couple of years, you are letting him manage small projects alone and have some customer contact. The results are excellent. An older group leader retires, and you decide that your young hotshot is ready for a management position. In the first 6 months, one team member leaves, another is actively searching for another internal position, and you have picked up comments that raise concern over the new manager's people skills.

What are you going to do?

Meeting Dues:  $20 for non-members; $15 for members or for guests of members at the meeting

Reservations required:   Reserve your seat by e-mailing our treasurer or calling our voice mail 539-7117.

Reservations need to be made by close of business on the Friday, May 23, before the scheduled meeting on Tuesday, May 27.

Regular meetings: We hold regular meetings on the fourth Tuesday of every month—except December, when the meeting date is announced by the board of directors (to avoid interference with Christmas). The regular meetings are held at Redstone Federal Credit Union in Research Park unless announced otherwise.
